The no-bake pie features a base of melted marshmallows blended with Creme de Menthe, Creme de Cacao and whipped cream that sits atop an Oreo cookie crust. It’s like a Grasshopper cocktail in pie form!

Blast. From. The. Past. This minty, creamy dream of a dessert brings back memories of Christmas Eve when my mom would serve it alongside her elaborate trays of cookies and bars.

Everyone loved Grasshopper Pie, even the kiddos who were only allow small bites due to the fact it’s laden with booze! Featuring creme de menthe and creme de cacao, it’s really a grasshopper cocktail in pie form. It’s a no bake pie and made even easier if you buy a pre-made Oreo pie crust.

You can garnish the pie with leftover Oreo crumbs, or how about some chocolate curls and Christmas sprinkles?

Grasshopper Pie

  • Prep time: 1 hour
  • Cook time: 4 hours
  • Total time: 5 hours

Grasshopper Pie is a no-bake pie that features a base of melted marshmallows blended with Creme de Menthe, Creme de Cacao and whipped cream that sits atop an Oreo cookie crust. It's like a Grasshopper cocktail in pie form!

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made Oreo crust
  • 32 large marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup chilled whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup creme de menthe, I used green creme de menthe and clear creme de cacao. If you use clear creme de menthe, just add some green food coloring to make your pie green.
  • 3 tablespoons creme de cacao
  • optional: green food coloring

Method

  • 1)

    Melt marshmallows and milk over low heat; stirring constantly.

  • 2)

    Chill until thickened.

  • 3)

    In separate chilled bowl, beat the cream until stiff; set aside.

  • 4)

    Add Creme De Menthe and Creme De Cacao to marshmallow mixture.

  • 5)

    Fold in whipped cream.  Add food coloring if desired.

  • 6)

    Pour the pie filling into the crust.

  • 7)

    Chill for at least four hours.
