It doesn't get easier than this recipe for Saltine Cracker Walleye Breading that uses s simple egg wash and crushed crackers to fry walleye fillets to crispy, flavorful perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh fish walleye fillets, (This batter also works for chicken, grouse, etc.)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 sleeve saltines
- vegetable oil
Method
- 1)
Put the saltines in a large plastic bag; use a coffee mug to crush them into a powder.
- 2)
Heat enough oil to cover fillets (about a half inch).
- 3)
While oil is heating, beat eggs to prepare egg wash.
- 4)
Test with a splash of egg wash to see if oil is hot; the hotter, the better!
- 5)
Dip fish in egg wash and shake in cracker batter.
- 6)
Drop in oil and fry until golden brown.
