Chocolate Peanut Butteroos
A mother’s love in a 9 x 13 pan.
As much as I treasure the handwritten recipes, well-worn cookbooks, and passed-down dishes from my mom and grandmas, I’ve come to realize that the real gift they gave me is the joy of feeding others and making people feel loved and cared for through food.
This particularly rings true with my mom and her baking. Over the years, she’s shared her treats generously—both with our family and with countless others. Her most enthusiastic taste tester was my late father. He would often email me photos of whatever she was baking, not just to show off her latest creation, but as a way of sharing the love she poured into each and every batch of baked goods.

With Mother’s Day coming up, I’m reflecting on the lessons she’s passed down—not just through the recipes she’s shared— but in how she’s used food to show her love and continues to do so.💖
While she does far less cooking and baking these days, my mom still makes her signature Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie bars (which I call Chocolate Peanut Butteroos) to share with family whenever she gets the chance. They’re easy, nostalgic, and always made with ingredients she keeps on hand. Best of all? They come together perfectly in a humble 9×13 pan.
XOXO,
Sarah
