An Interview with Moi!

Sarah

I was tickled to talk with Staci Mergenthal for her podcast Funeral Potatoes & Wool Mittens. It’s such a great podcast (with a great name BTW!!) that I have been “fan-girling” over and for good reason. It’s “for people who embrace the warm and cozy spirit of everyday living in the Midwest.” Right up my alley!

In addition to hosting her own podcast, Staci is a very talented writer with a food blog you need to check out called Random Sweets. She has SO many great recipes for cozy comfort food, Midwest classics and, of course, the sweets we all love and crave. After reading this description of her blog, I knew we’d be fast friends. She refers to our neck of the woods as “where lefse and krumkake are in our DNA, we think candy bars and apples make a salad, and our vocabulary for hot dish or casserole reveals the origin of our childhood. We make peanut butter cookies for our dogs and puppy chow for our people.”

During our hours-long conversation for the podcast, it’s clear that Staci and I are cut from the same cloth! We both share a deep love for tried-and-true recipes and comfort food like cheesy “funeral potatoes,” celebrate our Midwest flair and appreciate the older (vintage!) things in life. We covered it all and then some. I hope you will take a listen…you can read some highlights from our conversation and access the complete podcast here in this post on Staci’s blog.
