Straight from the pages of one of my vintage churc Straight from the pages of one of my vintage church cookbooks—this bacon tip is heavenly (and the only way I am making bacon from now on)! 😉

While flipping through those old-school “Helpful Hints” sections (my fave part!), I found a new trick that gives bacon the crispiest, crunchiest texture—almost like it’s deep-fried—and it doesn’t curl up as much.

Toss bacon with a little flour, then bake at 400°F for 20 min on a wire rack. Game-changer! 🥓

If you try it, let me know what you think!

I wrote about one of my mom's many signature treats on my Substack today: Chocolate Peanut Butteroos! Link in my stories. 😘
It’s not perfect🤪 but I attempted to make pot It’s not perfect🤪 but I attempted to make potica this week and am LOVING it slathered with butter alongside my morning coffee.

This is just one of the many heirloom recipes that will be in my cookbook out next spring—it’s from a true Iron Ranger whose family has been making this Slovenian bread for several generations. I cannot wait to share these recipes and the sweet stories behind them! Stay tuned!! 😘
My collection of vintage recipe boxes may be getti My collection of vintage recipe boxes may be getting a little out of hand 🤪… but I finally found the perfect shelf to display them! It’s actually meant for teacups and saucers (shoutout to my clever cousin Heidi for the idea!), but it works like a dream for my boxes—and even holds the sweet old nut grinders I inherited from my mom. Now everything’s easy to reach and it adds a little extra charm to my kitchen. Who else is addicted to vintage kitchen treasures?

Is it even Easter without cheesy potatoes?! I’ Is it even Easter without cheesy potatoes?!

I’ve been working on a new recipe for my upcoming cookbook that combines three different family recipes for this favorite Midwest holiday staple, including my grandma’s secret topping ingredient. Hint: it’s not cornflakes. 😉

Hope you have a great Easter that’s full of fun, friends & family and cheesy potatoes!!
Stumbled on this family photo and did a double tak Stumbled on this family photo and did a double take — that’s my dining room table!

It shows my grandparents and great-grandpa, my dad, and my uncle gathered around what looks like an Easter or holiday meal. The wallpaper, the dishes, 😍 my dad’s little glasses 🤓… ❣️❣️❣️❣️

To think, decades later, I’m serving meals on the very same table.💕
Some folks make Church Window Candy around Christm Some folks make Church Window Candy around Christmas, but for me, it’s always been an Easter thing as that’s when my mom made it. And don't those pastel mini marshmallows give you all the spring vibes?!💐

Also known as Stained Glass or Cathedral Window Candy, this treat is so easy to make and perfect for getting the kiddos involved! 🙌 Not going to lie, it’s a little messy—but that’s half the fun.

The 80s called 📞 and said you should make these The 80s called 📞 and said you should make these vintage carrot bars (made with baby food carrots). 🥕

I LOVE these bars my mom used to make, especially the cream cheese frosting. When I was a kid, I also appreciated that the bars have a smoother texture than traditional carrot cake which typically has shredded carrots and even nuts and raisins…God forbid. These days, I don’t discriminate and would eat any carrot cake/bars you put in front of me, but this recipe will always have a special place in my heart as it reminds me of my mom.💕 This recipe is on my website!
