Another unexpected bonus of exploring the stories Another unexpected bonus of exploring the stories behind family recipes has been the friends I’ve found along the way. 🥰

Staci is someone I first connected with on Instagram, and we immediately bonded over our mad love of everything from vintage crockpots and cake carriers to hotdish, our grandmas’ baking, and cheesy potatoes!

She’s also the friendly voice behind the blog @randomsweets and the super fun podcast “Funeral Potatoes and Wool Mittens,” where she shines a spotlight on passionate home cooks from the Midwest and the recipes and traditions they hold close to their hearts. 💕

Side note: two of her family’s favorite recipes are featured in “Dish and Tell” — Dill Pickle Pasta Salad and Grandma Janet’s White Cookies! They are fabulous!!

So grateful for her kind words! 😘
Some of the sweetest praise for my book comes from Some of the sweetest praise for my book comes from families like Kim’s, excited to see a beloved family recipe preserved for future generations. 💕

This is exactly the kind of inspiration I hope “Dish & Tell” sparks in others, to document and share those recipes we hold dear to our hearts. 🥰
For Pi Day or any day, this peanut butter pie come For Pi Day or any day, this peanut butter pie comes from my childhood “neighbor mom,” Sharon, who swapped so many recipes with my own mom when I was growing up. Loved sampling all of her treats through the years and will be forever grateful to Sharon for introducing our family to finger Jell-O in the 80s, remember that?! But that’s a story for another day. Today is about pie and this one is impossible to resist! Plus, the recipe makes two (!) pies, which feels exactly right for a day dedicated to pie.😍

You can read more about my awesome neighbors and get the recipe for this pie in “Dish and Tell: Recipes from the Heart.”

Special thanks to Rachael White of @setthetablephotography for capturing this beautiful pie in all its peanut butter glory!

When we were gathering blurbs for “Dish & Tell: Re When we were gathering blurbs for “Dish & Tell: Recipes from the Heart,” I thought it would be fitting to include some from people who inspired the book — family and friends who know these recipes and stories best.

While these quotes didn’t make it onto the back cover, they mean so much to me that I wanted to share a few here.

Today’s sweet words come from my mom.💕
In honor of International Women’s Day, I got to sh In honor of International Women’s Day, I got to share some thoughts with Minnesota Monthly about the special role women play in preserving food traditions and cherished family recipes. 💕 As part of this, I also shared a recipe to mark the day—Louella Anderson’s akoori, a Parsi-style scrambled egg dish.

Louella learned to make this beloved breakfast (or good-for-anytime-of-day-dish) from her mother, Dolly, a Parsi matriarch pictured here with Louella and two of her siblings. The cherished family recipe preserves a cooking style that blends the spices and techniques of ancient Persia with ingredients from western India and showcases the way women pass down culture, family, and love through food!
