I tapped my collection of thrifted recipe boxes and church cookbooks to source some recipes where rhubarb is the star of the show. Summer is…

That one time I discovered a recipe for 7-Up Bronc That one time I discovered a recipe for 7-Up Broncos in a vintage recipe box I picked up on a road trip in Wisconsin…🤗

Love this recipe, especially when I can’t wait two more weeks for a corn dog or Pronto Pup at the State Fair! (And for the
record I am BOTH Team Corn Dog and Team Pronto Pup. Don’t make me choose!)

This was just one of many fun recipes that caught my eye in this recipe box, including several featuring beer as an ingredient: beer batter for fried fish, beer bread and a tangy beer dressing for potato salad. We’re talking Wisco after all! I shared some of these dandies and more in an old post you can find on my website. I’ll drop a link in my stories if you want to check it out!😘
I picked up some sweet vintage recipe booklets on I picked up some sweet vintage recipe booklets on my trip up north last week, including this one all about Jell-O from 1930 (!) which had me scratching my head wondering how long this amazing product has been around…

I checked, and Jell-O dates back to 1897! Who knew? Although at the time this recipe booklet came out, there were only five flavors!

I love the desserts in this book but will pass on the entrees, relishes and salads thank you very much.😜

Do you stock Jell-O at your house? What is your favorite way to make/use it? I am going to making some cherry whip tonight! 🍒
I love my recipe box! I am always surprised when p I love my recipe box! I am always surprised when people say they don’t have one. I use mine for recipes that have been handed down to me but I also write down my favorite recipes I use over and over (from online and cookbooks) so they are all in one happy little home. 💕
Who else is giddy that it is only three weeks to t Who else is giddy that it is only three weeks to the @mnstatefair?!

Well…I am EXTRA excited as I will be participating in the @startribune Day on Sept. 1 in the Cambria Kitchen in the Creative Activities Building-a building I know well! It’s always one of my favorite parts of the fair…to drool over all of the amazing baked goods, marvel at the winning entries and to watch the demos in the kitchen area.

I am still in disbelief that little ol’ me will be doing TWO demos , one at noon and another at 2 p.m. Please come and dish & tell with me! I am going to make two items from “Dish and Tell: Recipes from the Heart” that I have actually won ribbons for at the fair! If you can correctly guess which recipes these are in the comments below, I will pick one person and send you a signed cookbook.😘
Have you heard of glorified graham crackers? I c Have you heard of glorified graham crackers?

I came across this recipe from my Aunt Ede and had a hunch these would be good. Spoiler alert: They are GLORIOUS.

Ede had a knack for making truly extraordinary treats and meals from ordinary pantry ingredients. I have quite a few of her straightforward recipes in my cookbook (including the BEST meatballs that get their flavor from a few distinct cans of condensed soup), but I was so excited to come across this one tucked in my mom’s collection of recipe cards.

These would be a quick and easy treat to bring to a get-together or to simply have on standby on your counter to go with coffee. Or, as Ede likely did, have on hand just in case company stops by so you’d have something to serve them.🩵

Just use enough graham crackers to line a cookie sheet, boil one cup of butter (you have my permission to replace Oleo/margarine and just use butter) with ½ cup sugar for two minutes. Pour the “syrup” over the crackers. Cover with nuts (I used pecans) and bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees.😘
I had the chance to stop by @thelift_wdio to make I had the chance to stop by @thelift_wdio to make Peanut Butter Pie and share the sweet story behind this recipe. 🤗

It is one of my favorite pies, and it comes from my lifelong neighbor Sharon, who lived next door to my parents’ in Cloquet and shared many scrumptious treats with our family through the years.—like only a good neighbor does! Sharon often made this recipe (which makes two pies!) for her son Todd’s birthday, as he preferred it over cake! It’s also a favorite pie they have at Thanksgiving.

I’ll put a link to the station’s page in my story with Sharon’s recipe. It’s also in “Dish and Tell: Recipes from the Heart!”😘
Throwback to summer in the 70s! Love so much abo Throwback to summer in the 70s!

Love so much about this picture…me in my little gingham bikini while my brother is in a winter sweater(!) and my dad looking so super cool with his sweet sneakers! And these lawn chairs!💕
I LOVE onion rings, but does anyone else eat arou I LOVE onion rings, but does anyone else eat around the onions and just pick off the crispy outside?! 🤪 That was me until I made this recipe. I used sweet onions which I think really made a difference and also replaced half the milk with a little beer. So good!
