We saved the best for last: LEFSE! Made it through the baking list I set out to accomplish this season and happy to have a few extra helpers in the kitchen today. ❤️

Lefse is a fun and tasty tradition passed down through both sides of our family, but I didn’t actually make it until my MIL Mary Lou taught us. 💕These kinds of cherished recipes and food traditions passed down from one generation to another are so special! Look for some amazing family recipes for pasties, potica, poppy kuchen and more in my cookbook in February!

Entered my bar era of this holiday season with two recipes our family reserves for this time of year: Nut Goodie Bars and French Creme Chocolate Mint bars. My mom used to make these bars for the holidays, and they were always a big hit! Both are great recipes (on my website) as they make enough to share and to save some for our holiday celebrations (if you can resist the urge to eat them all which is a real problem at my house). 🤪

I am feeling nostalgic for an 80s Christmas this year and came across this gem of a Christmas cookbook from 1982 featuring so many of the recipes I remember that my mom made for the holidays, including Grasshopper Pie! 🎄 I shared the recipe on my website a few years ago, but take a look at this version of the pie as sweet little, individual-sized tarts. 😍😍 You can bet your bottom dollar I will be making these ASAP! Have you ever made this pie?!

Russian Tea Cakes, Snowballs, Mexican Wedding Cakes…whatever you call these cuties, they are a holiday classic. I use my friend Becky’s mom’s recipe (on my website) and toast my pecans just like Becky does before adding them to the dough. It really makes a difference!

Fun fact: Becky created a twist on this classic cookie with chocolate, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and chocolate chips. She calls them Diablo Snowballs, and they were a winner in the 2021 Star Tribune Holiday Cookie Contest! This recipe is also on my website and in the Ultimate Minnesota Cookie Book. 😘

It feels like Christmas morning at my house! I got an early present with the very first copies of “Dish & Tell: Recipes from the Heart.” 🎁✨

I’ve waited so long for this day, and the book is everything I hoped it would be: recipes that hold a special place in our hearts, the stories behind them, sweet vintage-inspired design details, old family photos, and of course… lots and lots of pretty dishes. I can’t wait for you to see it!
