Time for Coffee & Cookbooks from my Couch! ☕️📖 I Time for Coffee & Cookbooks from my Couch! ☕️📖

I picked up this vintage cookbook at St. Mark’s fall sale last week. This church is in my neighborhood where we have lived for 25 years so I thought it would be a good fit for my collection!

I am very much in a fall/football eating state of mind so I flagged a few cozy recipes to try, including one that has me running to the store from some bread dough! Can you guess which one? (hint you make it in a Bundt pan!)

It’s always fun to see the different chapters in these community cookbooks! I love this one’s “Celebrities” section—although I doubt Hillary and many of these folks were part of the parish! 😂 The Celebration Menu section has helpful menus and recipes for everything from a morning coffee party to baby shower to a grad party and a tailgate party. 🤗 I’ll share a few more in my stories.

I am so excited to give a few of these a try! Any look good to you?!
One of the sweetest parts of my recent trip to Bem One of the sweetest parts of my recent trip to Bemidji was a little welcome basket my cousin Heidi put together for me. ❤️

She filled it with vintage treasures she knew I would love including these adorable salt & pepper shakers which gave us a good laugh when we realized they’re not only S & P for Salt & Pepper…but also S & P for Sarah Peterson. 😂 Clearly, they were meant for me!

I loved every single thing, but even more, I loved the thought behind it all. Such a good reminder that making someone feel special doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. A few thrifted treasures, or just a little something that says I saw this and thought of you can mean so much. 💕

Thank you, cousin, for knowing me so wel and for making me feel so loved and welcomed. ❤️
Happy October. Time to fire up the oven and make p Happy October. Time to fire up the oven and make pumpkin bread!

Who am I kidding? I have been baking my friend Sarah’s pumpkin bread several times this fall already! It’s the recipe in my cookbook with juicy blueberries in it and it’s soooo good! But there is another pumpkin bread recipe in my life that is dear to my heart: my mom’s pumpkin bread with an irresistible brown sugar glaze!

You can find my mom’s recipe on my website. It’s one my mom used to make multiple times each fall and around the holidays!

Looking back through some old emails today, I found one of the pictures my dad sent to me of her pumpkin bread back in 2019 when they were still in their home.

He was so proud of everything my mom made and would send me pictures of my mom’s baking that he staged and then took with his iPad. I love how he includes the recipe card and propped up the Scandinavian trivet in the back with the phrase that means, “you’re welcome!”💕
Thanks to Bonnie, who I met at one of my “Dish & T Thanks to Bonnie, who I met at one of my “Dish & Tell” events in Hendrum last week, I was inspired to make a Swedish Apple Pie.

She shared about the pie she likes to make (which got rave reviews from others in the room lucky enough to have tried it) and I was intrigued by how easy it sounded.

No need to mess with rolling out a pie crust?! I’m in!

When I got home, I was bummed I hadn’t gotten Bonnie’s exact recipe, but after a little searching, I came up with this version that I think is pretty close:

Butter a baking dish and fill with peeled, sliced apples. Toss with about 2 tablespoons sugar and a little cinnamon.

For the topping, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 egg. Stir in 1/2 cup melted butter until a dough forms, then add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.

Spoon/spread the dough over the apples and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes, or until golden brown.

We enjoyed ours warm with salted caramel ice cream!! 😋

One more recipe and story aka “dish & tell” I’m so happy to have picked up along the way on my little book tour. 💕

Pulled out one her pretty pitchers that has a lavender hue from the many years it sat basking in the sun in my parents’ front window of their house! 💜
I am still thinking about my Aunt Jeannie’s lasagn I am still thinking about my Aunt Jeannie’s lasagna from last week when I was up north. ❤️ And I think I am still FULL!

Jeannie’s legendary lasagna parties started back in the 1970s with co-workers from the Red Owl in Bemidji. More than 50 years later, the tradition is still going strong and I was lucky enough to have a seat at the table last week!

I shared Jeannie’s recipe and the story behind these parties on my website a while back, and I love how this beloved lasagna has become the heart of so many years of friendship, laughter and memories around the table.

I’ll share a link to Jeannie’s recipe in my stories, where you can also read “the tell” behind this dish—including why lasagna is so perfect for a get-together and Jeannie’s make-ahead tips and party pointers for a fun, low-stress gathering. Hint: it may involve wine!

I hope this “Dish & Tell” may inspire a lasagna party of your own!😘
